Earlier this evening, I bragged about writing 100 posts.
The “New York Times,” April 20th, 2013.
“Before her book was published, Ms. Ephron learned that she had Myelodyslastic Syndrome, a rare blood disorder. The existential sniper’s bullet, was no longer spiraling in slow motion. She decided to sprint toward her final deadline. In her last six years
she wrote 2 books, 2 plays 100 blog posts, and directed a movie.

WTF
The author of this article, Dwight Garner goes on; “Roger Ebert delivered more than 300 film reviews
and many other bits of writing in his last full year on earth.”
and many other bits of writing in his last full year on earth.”
WTF
“Christopher Hitchens went out the same way, essentially dying at his laptop, churning out essays, reviews, introductions and “Mortality,” a last book.”
How pithy.
I have crawled
my way through the last week even requesting 2 vacation days so I can make next month’s rent.

Must we overachieve our way to death?
Ephron, Ebert, and Hitchens were always prolific and no one could ever accuse any one of them of being slackers REALLY?
but
but
Maybe this is what I need to get myself going again, a death sentence.
I really have never been considered an overachiever by other people anyway.
Why?
Why?
Anhedonia is a psychiatric term meaning; the lack of pleasure or of the capacity to experience it.
Ephron’s new Broadway play “Lucky Guy”,
deals with the life of journalist “Mike McLary, who won a Pulitzer Prize for breaking the biggest story of his career—the 1997 Abner Louima police brutality scandal—while sick with cancer. Ms. Ephron’s message: Go out doing what you love.”

Enough about Ephron, let’s get back to me and my little life. I can see it now, my son delivering the eulogy saying to a room that I am sure will be full of mourners, “Of course, my mother’s biggest accomplishment took place in the early months of 2013 when she posted 100 blogs.”
The room will be filled with silence.
I will take it as awe.
I see it now, my son struggling with the next few words when one sane overachieving person will stand up and say; WTF, you call that an accomplishment, why I posted 100 blogs this morning before I came here.
“Your mother was a loser.”
Mack, don’t try to defend me.
Just utter one word.
